Andrew Goldie joins Contacts

Andrew Goldie is the latest addition to the Contacts Photography stable, bringing the total number of photographers now represented to 10.

Goldie has been pursuing his passion for photography and film since his school days where he discovered the art departments, cameras and darkrooms, and went on to earn a B.A. in Photography from R.M.I.T. University.

On graduation Goldie ventured to London where he assisted and retouched for some of the top photographers in the advertising and fashion arenas. This was followed by a stint in Japan where he began to work on portraits and landscapes for his first solo exhibition "I'm Big In Japan".

Returning to Australia, Goldie launched his commercial photography career, landing one of his first sizeable jobs for Ikea; a documentary project where he was commissioned to document the 'Australian family home', visiting over 30 families in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Since then Goldie has hit the ground running and worked with several major clients within advertising, as well as scoring numerous editorial portrait commissions for the likes of the(sydney)magazine, AFR Magazine, Sunday Life and Good Weekend.

Although Goldie shoots a diverse range of subjects, the key theme that resonates throughout his work is a strong understanding and use of light both in studio and on location.

Says Katy Young, Contacts founder & MD: "When I saw Andrew's work for the first time it was clear that he was a true photographer in every sense of the word. His passion for the craft is clearly evident in his personal work, and his commissions across advertising and editorial confirm how incredibly polished and proficient he is."

Whilst continuing his commercial work and creating short films, Goldie is currently working on numerous art projects, having recently wrapped up his latest exhibition, Transformations, at Customs House.
