Christian Mushenko's 'Longing' series of lensless images is being exhibited at Fox Gallery in Prague

In Christians Words:

“With each image an unfocused view of the world, there is a more basic response to light, creating an abstract colour field image. The lack of focus in each artwork removes us from the actual subject in front of us. Instead it hints at the mysterious, often unclear vision of our futures, made up of our internal desires and longing.

“They are landscapes of the mind, depicting moments felt, rather than seen, things wished for but not known.

“It is a great honour to be invited to show Longing at the Fox Gallery as it has a great ethos of enriching lives through art to seasoned art lovers as well as those new to their art discovery journey. Through all mediums, their aim is to enrich lives and inspire people to realise that art is a part of our lives and life is art. To be included in this mission is humbling.

Longing was a natural progression from my earlier exploration of seascapes, enabling me to directly address the mystery in the eye of the viewer. We see what we would like to, or even need to see, and this is where the longing for our past, present and future comes from.”

Jan Edwards for Serangoon Road

Recently Jan Edwards worked on the HBO Asia and ABC co-production, Serangoon Road, as Set Decorator (episodes 6 -10).

The 10 part television drama series was shot in Indonesia, Batam Island and Singapore.  Directed by Peter Andrikidis and Tony Tilse.  Production Designer, Herbert Pinter.

Working with an Australian, Singaporean and Indonesian crew Jan decorated period Singapore streets, bars, fishing villages, various Chinese and Western interiors and more, shot on location in Batam and Singapore and the studio backlot and studios on Batam Island.

Serangoon Road is a period piece set against the backdrop of 1964 - 65 colonial Singapore where political and racial tensions are escalating as the British pull out.  Serangoon Road unfolds as a mystery series but there are greater political overtones about the emergence of a culture from old to new.

Based around Aussie Sam Callaghan (Don Hany) who spends most of his time helping friend Patricia Cheng (Joan Chen) with the private detective agency she now runs after her husband was killed while working on a case.

Serangoon Road begins Sunday 22 September 2013 on ABC1, 8:30 pm.

New food work from Janyon

Janyon was getting a little bored with the rustic farmhouse so he challenged food styling couple Ben and Louise Masters to join him on a personal shoot to explore some out of the ordinary food images.
"I wanted to create some bold imagery that's in contrast to the soft-window-light, rustic french farmhouse genre. It's not that I don't like those images, they are often beautiful, but I think we need to move on."
