Damine Pleming for Neocate
" Working with children is lot's of fun when you're a big kid at heart! So when Sydney agency, Arterial Marketing came to me with a brief to capture a collection of energetic children's portraits, I knew it was going to be fun! Hard work, but fun! The idea was to give the client a library of images they could use over time for a number of purposes. Here are just a few of the images I captured. "

Damien Pleming for Hagar
" During the past 18 years that I've worked as a photographer, I don't recall working on a project that had such an emotional impact on me as my recent Job in Cambodia and Vietnam for the international aid agency Hagar.
Hagar look after those that other agencies can't help, namely woman and children who have been subject to extreme cases of sexual abuse, domestic violence and exploitation (trafficking).
I had a good understanding of what the people I photographed had been through, but chose not to get their full stories before working with each of them so I could focus on the positive. I wanted to able to have fun with them and get them to relax in front of the camera. The brief was to capture the new life these women & kids have found with Hagar, conveying a mix of joy and happiness, but also vulnerability in the shots, without exposing the full identity of the children.
I am left feeling that somehow we live in a balanced world where some true mongrel people exist, then, we have incredible people working for such agencies as Hagar. "

Damien Pleming and The Western Sydney Wanderers
" The Western Sydney Wanderers are the latest team to enter the Football Federations national Hyundai A-League competition. I was commissioned by Nike Australia to photograph 3 of their stars; Aaron Mooy, Tarek Elrick, and Kwabena Appiah-Kubi in their playing strip. I set up a studio at Nike head quarters in Melbourne. It is the perfect space to shoot this kind of action photography, as they have a fully netted indoor skate arena. With the netting and cushioned synthetic grass I sourced, I was able to get the players to kick through the ball in their boots with confidence, giving us authentic action shots in a controlled lighting environment. Heimatland by Martin Mischkulnig
Martin Mischkulnig shot this travel feature for Swiss fashion magazine Annabelle's September 2012 issue. Heimatland translates to 'homeland' in English. Martin traveled through the alps up to the 'jungfraujoch' then canoed in a rubber dinghy down the Rhine river, before hot air ballooning across the alps! What an awesome job and an incredible adventure!
